New Creation

Have you ever really seen the process a butterfly goes through to become what it is. I have never really seen this process but one thing for sure is that it didn’t start as a butterfly. I bet it started out a bit slow and easily destroyed. I bet it started out crawling and striving to fulfill its purpose in becoming all that God had created it to be.

This is similar to us as we journey through life to figure out God’s purposes in us and all that we are to become. The journey from caterpillar to butterfly. The process is not pretty and I am sure as a caterpillar many birds and other creatures may have tried to take it out. But once it forms that cocoon the process is on its way to completion.

This fall we form our cocoon. Over the past three years we have been in prayer and discernment about how and where to fulfill God’s call on us to start a ministry that embraces multiculturalism and mission, in the name of Jesus Christ, and now is that time.

Over the years I have been a part of some amazing ministries that are really doing awesome things in the community and throughout the world. Through these ministry experiences I have gained in knowledge and wisdom that will allow me to give birth to this next phase of life.

Paul in 2 Cor. 5:17-21 says,

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

This scripture  has captured my spirit, not only because God sees us as a new creation, but also it spells out how we are to embrace one another. This is the ministry that God has called me to lead out with, the ministry of reconciliation. Reconciling people to each other and to God, through Christ.

This fall we will embark on the new journey. Many of the things that we will do will be outside the box of what we think of as “church” but it will be right in line with what we study as being “Christian”.

I will need your help if we are going to get things off the ground. This week Kyla (my beautiful wife) and I are on vacation, but I have decided to use some of my vacation time for prayer, reflection and sharing the vision for this ministry.

This will be a movement for wholeness in our hurting a dying world. A movement for bringing people from all races, backgrounds, cultures, socio-economic and educational levels together for the purposes of Christ.

Stay tuned and in prayer with me this week. Let’s make this happen together!

Grace and Blessings,

Pastor O
